United Airlines CISO Emily Heath Talks Cyber Diversity in Latest Article
In her latest article on LinkedIn, Emily Heath, VP and CISO for United Airlines and NTSC Board Member, says, “It stands to reason that cyber teams should be among the most diverse teams at any corporation, yet it’s staggering when you see that, on average across the U.S., only 10 percent of cyber security professionals are female and a mere 12 percent represent a minority group.” Heath describes how she tackled this issue over the past year and created a cybersecurity team with 48 percent women and 42 percent minority. According to Heath, a CISO needs to make diversity part of its goals and partner “internally with our HR and diversity and inclusion partners and externally with nonprofit groups and colleges” to make it happen.
