NTSC Applauds Approval of DHS NPPD Leadership

Wednesday, June 13, 2018

ATLANTA, GA (June 13, 2018) – NTSC Executive Director Patrick Gaul today applauded the Senate approval of Christopher Krebs to serve as the under secretary for the Department of Homeland Security’s National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD).

“Cyber represents the single greatest threat to our nation’s economic health, and we are being subjected to well thought-out cyber campaigns designed to infect our critical infrastructure, steal our intellectual property, cause financial crisis whenever possible, and undermine our very democracy," noted Gaul. “The NTSC looks forward to continuing to work with NPPD in supporting the recently released DHS Cyber Strategy, and we are excited that Chris is going to be at the helm. His enthusiasm for building meaningful public-private partnerships is particularly encouraging as it is clear that 'collective defense' is the only strategy that will work going forward. As Mr. Krebs noted earlier this year, 'Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility; we all play a part in keeping the internet safe.'"

As the preeminent trade association for the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), the NTSC looks forward to partnering with NPPD to encourage increased cyber threat intelligence sharing within our CISO community and playing a key role in enhancing the public-private sector dialogue.

The NTSC provides a platform for CISOs to advocate for beneficial legislative and regulatory policies. We encourage dialogue about cybersecurity issues, laws, and regulations through advocacy engagement with congressional members, regional CISO policy roundtables, and our National CISO Policy Conference.
