Aetna CISO Mignona Cote Joins NTSC Board of Directors

ATLANTA, GA (November 28, 2017) – Mignona Cote, CISO for Aetna, has been appointed to serve on the National Technology Security Coalition’s (NTSC) Board of Directors. Representing the healthcare and insurance industries, Cote will help influence the strategic direction of the NTSC and join CISOs who represent a broad cross-section of enterprise companies. These CISOs have a vested interest in protecting the security of their customers and employees through policies that improve national cybersecurity standards and awareness.

“As someone who is responsible for security education as well as policy management and evangelizing security among Aetna’s top corporate customers, I understand the need for explaining cybersecurity issues in a way that business stakeholders understand,” said Cote. “Extending that approach to legislators and policymakers, I think there is a great deal of opportunity for CISOs to better educate and engage in dialogue about the issues that matter to us. Joining the NTSC is a logical extension of my efforts both within Aetna and with the security industry as a whole to bring cybersecurity more to the forefront of our corporate and national dialogue.”

Cote serves as the Chief Information Security Officer for two Aetna subsidiaries, PayFlex and Phoenix Hosting Services. As a Senior Director for Aetna’s Global Security, she also leads Aetna’s Enterprise Risk & Compliance program—and as the company’s security compliance officer, she manages compliance risk including industry and regulatory requirements. She has a proven track record of transforming technical operations and building strategic solutions for companies like Aetna, Bank of America, PepsiCo, and Verizon. Recently, Cote was awarded the ISE North America People’s Choice Award Winner. The award represents an executive who best exemplifies information security leadership as voted on by peers in the information security industry.

“I’m impressed by Mignona’s 20+ years of experience in information security, risk management, compliance, and auditing across many Fortune 50 companies,” said Patrick Gaul, Executive Director of the NTSC. “Her expertise spans incident response, vulnerability management, access management, vendor management, risk and compliance, and auditing. That level of experience and expertise provides our board valuable input as we represent the needs of CISOs in Washington, D.C.”

The NTSC provides a platform for CISOs to advocate for beneficial legislative and regulatory policies. We encourage dialogue about cybersecurity issues, laws, and regulations through advocacy engagement with congressional members, regional CISO policy roundtables, our annual DC Fly-In, and our National CISO Policy Conference.
