Wednesday, July 22, 2020

ATLANTA (July 22, 2020) – David Nolan, Senior Director, Information Security at Aaron’s, has been appointed to serve on the National Technology Security Coalition’s (NTSC) Board of Directors. Representing the retail industry, Nolan will help influence the strategic direction of the NTSC and join CISOs who represent a broad cross-section of enterprise companies. These CISOs have a vested interest in protecting the security of their customers and employees through policies that improve national cybersecurity standards and awareness.

“Cybersecurity legislation, regulations, and policies impact the ability to protect consumer data by how data protection is defined and by the complexity of requirements,” said Nolan. “That’s why an organization like the National Technology Security Coalition is so important for promoting pragmatic national cybersecurity standards that simplify requirements while still protecting consumers. Through my work with InfraGard, I understand the importance of a strong public-private partnership between industry and government. I look forward to working with the NTSC’s Board of Directors on strengthening national cybersecurity policy in a way that benefits all industries.”

As the Senior Director, Information Security at Aaron’s, Nolan is accountable for information security and risk leadership, strategy, budget, and operational excellence. He has spent over 20 years in the information technology industry in various roles including positions at Caterpillar, State Farm Insurance, and the Central Intelligence Agency. A regular speaker at colleges, corporations, and industry conferences including the (ISC)2 Security Congress, ISSA, and ISACA conferences, Nolan is also active on various industry advisory boards and serves as the Education Chair for the Atlanta chapter of InfraGard.

“David not only has impressive information security experience in the private sector but also understands the public sector through his participation with InfraGard and a previous role at the CIA,” said Patrick Gaul, Executive Director of the NTSC. “He’s very active on advisory boards and is viewed as a subject matter expert in the cybersecurity industry, and the NTSC is pleased to harness some of his energy into our own Board of Directors. We are happy that David has decided to join the NTSC and I anticipate his contributions will add a lot of value to our organization.”

The NTSC provides a platform for CISOs to advocate for beneficial legislative and regulatory policies. We encourage dialogue about cybersecurity issues, laws, and regulations through advocacy engagement with congressional members, regional CISO policy roundtables, and our National CISO Policy Conference.

Nolan joins a prestigious board of CISOs representing leading companies including Aflac, Dollar Tree, Ellie Mae, Equifax, Freddie Mac, Globe Life, Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services, Huntington Bank, Johnson & Johnson, JPMorgan Chase, Labcorp, loanDepot, Mastercard, McKesson, Microsoft, Motorola Mobility, NCR, Oceaneering, Ohio State University, Sage Group, Synovus, TaxSlayer, Technology Association of Georgia, TransUnion, Unisys, US Bank, Voya Financial, and Western Digital.
